The Lake

Han Donau

"You are a tiny lake, you are shaped like an egg. At a depth of thirty meters, not far from your deepest point, lives an orange fish. Right at the bottom and no one can catch her."

Picturebook The Lake is a poetic and subtle work of art in which deep and intimate images are combined with minimalistic text. At first glance, it looks like a simple story, but in fact, it is a universal philosophical reflection on how we cope with change or loss. Paintings with distinctive handwriting guide the reader through a dreamland with a unique atmosphere in which one can get lost, but also be found.

The Lake is a book that you should not just read. It is worth having it at hand and reach for it whenever we stop understanding ourselves.
