Kristína Soboň
Illustrator, editor, author
Kristína Soboň studied illustration at Dušan Kállay's studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. After graduating, she did an internship at the Miroslav Šaško Illustrator Foundation and the Baobab publishing house in Prague. She is the chairwoman of the Association of Slovak Illustrators (ASIL). She currently works as editor-in-chief of Slovakia's oldest children's magazine, Slniečko. She also enjoys being involved in the activities of the young publishing house Monokel. She has illustrated the short story collections Dôvod na radosť (Reason for Joy) by Soňa Uriková (KK Bagala) and 56, či? (56, Right?) by Alexandra Salmeli (Aspekt). She also illustrated the books Mário de Andrade: Macunaíma- hrdina bez charakteru (Macunaíma: The Hero Without Character) (Portuguese Institute) and Miroslav Mišák: Denníky domorodcov (The Diaries of the Natives) (Artforum). Her illustrations have also appeared in magazines such as Slniečko, Vertigo, Verzia, and Medzi knihami. She is also the author of the non-fiction picture book Sem a tam: Dejiny cestovania v 50 obrázkoch (Monokel).
